TO Live has a temporary part time hourly opportunity until August 27, 2021 in its Development department in the role of “Development Assistant”.  This position may be scheduled up to 35 hours per week with the possibility of an extension beyond August 27, 2021.

 

Reporting to the Director of Development, and/or their designate, the Development Assistant will play an important role in the growth of TO Live’s fundraising department. The role will support stakeholder relations, proposal writing and administration of government and foundation grants and corporate partnerships.


ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Government Grants (40%)

  • Research and maintain a calendar of grant deadlines.
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments, including finance, programming, and marketing to collect information for grant applications and reports.
  • Assist in writing letters of intent, grant applications, and reports.

 

Corporate Partnerships & Events (40%)

  • Research, maintain and support the growth of a robust corporate prospects pipeline, including regular identification of leads, cold-calling and proposal tracking.
  • Coordinate sponsor activations and benefit fulfillment.
  • Assist in the preparation of sponsorship decks, proposal, and fulfillment reports.
  • Support the planning and execution of Development special events.

 

Operations & Administrative Support (20%)

  • Ensure the ongoing maintenance of development files.
  • Manage departmental critical path and calendars.
  • Assume additional responsibilities and undertake special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Development and the Director of Development.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience, preferably in development, customer service, marketing, sales or arts administration. Preference given to candidates with a history in the performing arts.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, prioritization skills and a precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines; strong planning coordinating, and scheduling skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a new and growing team.
  • Commitment to professional development, AFP Code of Conduct and Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Commitment to a career in Development and arts management preferred.

 WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Flexibility in hours and schedules and includes work on nights and weekends as required.
  • Lack of natural light in workplace.
  • Occasional objectionable odours in workplace.
  • Travel between all three TO Live venues as required.
  • The work location and hours of work could change due to operational needs and the prevailing circumstances of the current COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, this role may be required to work remotely from home in accordance with evolving TO Live policy, as amended from time to time.
